Mosese Bulitavu Shares Fiji’s Perspective on Ocean Accounts for Sustainable Development

Mosese Bulitavu, Minister for Environment and Climate Change of Fiji, will take part in the high-level side event “Delivering on the 2030 Sustainable Ocean Economy: Pledge to Develop Ocean Accounts by 2030”, contributing to the session “Ocean Accounts for Sustainable Development: Lessons from a Small Island State”.

Appointed in 2023, Minister Bulitavu brings a wealth of experience in public service and climate governance. A long-standing Member of Parliament, he has played a key role in shaping national policies, including the landmark review of Fiji’s Climate Change Act 2021. His background in law, environmental oversight, and community-based development has positioned him as a leading advocate for climate resilience and sustainable growth in the Pacific region.

His intervention at the UNOC3 side event will focus on how small island developing states (SIDS) like Fiji are leveraging ocean accounts to inform national strategies, drive sustainable development, and build resilience in the face of climate change.
