Featured Speaker: Julien Million – Developing Ocean Accounts Towards a Sustainable Blue Economy

Julien Million, Senior Fisheries Specialist at the World Bank, will also be a speaker at the side event — “Delivering on the 2030 Sustainable Ocean Economy: Pledge to Develop Ocean Accounts by 2030”, presenting the talk “Charting the Blue: Developing Ocean Accounts Towards a Sustainable Blue Economy.” Drawing on two decades of international experience, Julien Million will explore how ocean accounts can serve as a foundation for sustainable marine resource management and policy development.

Currently serving as Manager of the PROBLUE Program, he leads efforts to promote healthy oceans, sustainable fisheries, and a resilient blue economy. His work spans multiple regions, including ongoing fisheries operations in India and Somalia.

At the World Bank since 2017, Mr. Million has played a central role in shaping blue economy strategies across developing countries. In his presentation, he will discuss how ocean accounting frameworks can support countries in aligning economic development with the conservation of marine ecosystems.
